The Tortoise and the Hare

วันหนึ่งนึ่ง กระต่ายกำลังกำ-ลังล้อเลียนเต่าที่เดินช้ามากล้อเลียน

One day, a hare was mocking a tortoise for walking so slowly.

"เธอเทอไปถึงไหนได้บ้างไหมเนี่ย?"

"Do you ever get anywhere?"

มันถามพร้อมหัวเราะหัว-เราะเยาะ "ได้สิ" เต่าตอบ "และฉันไปถึงได้เร็วกว่าที่เธอเทอคิด ฉันขอวิ่งแข่งกับเธอและพิสูจน์พิ-สูดให้ดู"

it asked with a mocking laugh. "Yes, I do," the tortoise replied. "And I get there sooner than you think. I'll run a race with you and prove it."

กระต่ายคิดว่านี่เป็นเรื่องตลกมาก มันมั่นใจว่าตัวเองจะชนะชะ-นะ "ได้เลย" มันพูด "เราแข่งกันเถอะ"

The hare thought this was a huge joke. It was confident that it would win. "Alright," he said, "let's race."

สุนัขจิ้งจอกตกลงตก-ลงที่จะกำหนดกํา-หนดเส้นทางและเป็นกรรมการ การแข่งขันแข่ง-ขันเริ่มขึ้น กระต่ายวิ่งเร็วมากจนในไนไม่ช้าก็ทิ้งห่างจากเต่าไปมาก เพื่อแสดงสะ-แดงให้เห็นว่าตัวเองไม่สนใจเต่าสักนิด มันก็นอนลงข้างทางเพื่อหลับพักผ่อน "ฉันยังมีเวลาเว-ลาเหลืออีกมาก" มันบอกกับตัวเอง "เต่าช้าๆ นั่นจะไม่มีไม่-มีทางตามทันฉันได้"

The fox agreed to set the course and act as the judge. The race began. The hare ran so fast that it soon left the tortoise far behind. To show how little it cared about the tortoise, it lay down by the roadside to take a nap. "I still have plenty of time," it told itself. "That slow tortoise will never catch up to me."

ในไนขณะขะ-หนะเดียวกันเดียว-กัน เต่าก็เดินต่อไปอย่างช้าๆ แต่สม่ำเสมอสะ-มำ-สะ-เหฺมอ ไม่หยุดหะ-ยุดแม้แต่แม้-แต่ชั่วขณะ ก้าวแล้วก้าวเล่า มันเข้าใกล้เส้นชัยมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆเรื่อย-เรื่อย

Meanwhile, the tortoise kept walking slowly but steadily, without stopping for a single moment. Step after step, it got closer and closer to the finish line.

กระต่ายหลับต่อไปเรื่อยๆเรื่อย-เรื่อย เมื่อมันตื่นขึ้นในไนที่สุดทิ-สุด มันเห็นว่าเต่าเกือบถึงเป้าหมายแล้ว มันวิ่งเต็มที่เท่าที่ทำได้ทำ-ได้ แต่ก็สายเกินไปแล้ว เต่าข้ามเส้นชัยไปแล้วและชนะชะ-นะการแข่งขันแข่ง-ขัน

The hare kept on sleeping. When it finally woke up, it saw that the tortoise was almost at the goal. It ran as fast as it could, but it was already too late. The tortoise had crossed the finish line and won the race.

"ช้าแต่ชัวร์ ชนะชะ-นะการแข่งขันแข่ง-ขันได้" เต่าพูดพร้อมยิ้ม และกระต่ายก็ได้ก็-ได้เรียนรู้ในไนวันนั้นว่าไม่ควรควนมั่นใจในตัวเองมากเกินไป และไม่ควรเยาะเย้ยผู้อื่น

"Slow and steady wins the race," the tortoise said with a smile. And the hare learned that day that one should not be overconfident, nor should one mock others.
