1. Jack și vrejul de fasole

    Jack and the Beanstalk

Once upon a time, there was a poor widow who had an only son named Jack.

They were so poor that, one day, they had to sell their cow.

Jack's mother sent him to the market to sell it.

On the way, Jack met an old man who gave him five magic beans in exchange for the cow.

When Jack returned home with the beans instead of money, his mother became very angry.

She threw the beans out the window and sent Jack to bed without dinner.

In the morning, Jack looked out the window and saw that the beans had grown into a giant beanstalk.

It rose higher and higher, far into the sky.

Jack climbed the beanstalk to the very top, where he found a grand castle.

  11. Acolo locuia soția unui uriaș.

    A giant's wife lived there.

Jack asked her for something to eat, and she kindly gave him bread and milk.

  13. Dar curând uriașul a venit acasă, strigând:

But soon the giant came home, shouting:

  14. „Fee-fi-fo-fum! Miroase a sânge de pământean! ”.

"Fee-fi-fo-fum! I smell the blood of an Englishman!"

  15. Soția l-a ascuns pe Jack în cuptor.

The wife hid Jack in the oven.

After dinner, the giant counted his gold coins and then fell asleep.

Jack sneaked out, grabbed a bag of gold, and climbed down the stalk to his mother.

The gold didn't last forever, so Jack climbed the beanstalk once again.

This time he stole a hen that laid golden eggs.

The giant woke up and roared, but Jack was already hurrying down with the magical hen.

  21. Jack s-a cățărat și a treia oară.

Jack climbed up a third time.

  22. S-a ascuns în castel și a așteptat.

He hid in the castle and waited.

This time he stole a magical harp that played by itself.

  24. Dar harpa a strigat:

    But the harp cried out:

"Master! Master!", and the giant woke up and chased Jack all the way to the beanstalk.

Jack slid down as fast as he could, shouting:

  27. „Mamă, adu-mi un topor! ”.

    "Mother, bring me an axe!"

As soon as he reached the ground, he chopped down the beanstalk with all his might.

The great beanstalk crashed down with a roar, and the giant fell with it, never to be seen again.

Jack and his mother were rich now, with the bag of gold, the hen that laid golden eggs, and the singing harp.

And they lived happily ever after.
