Os Três Porquinhos
The Three Little Pigs
-
Once upon a time there were three little pigs who set off to seek their fortune.
-
The first little pig built his house of straw, because it was the easiest to do.
-
The second little pig built his house of sticks.
-
The third little pig worked hard and built his house of bricks.
-
Um dia chegou um lobo mau e grande.
One day a big bad wolf arrived.
-
He went to the first little pig's house and said:
-
"Porquinho, porquinho, deixa-me entrar!"
"Little pig, little pig, let me come in!"
-
"Não, não, pelos pêlos do meu queixinho!"
"No, no, by the hair on my chinny chin chin!"
-
disse o porquinho.
said the little pig.
-
"Então vou soprar, soprar e a tua casa vou derrubar!"
"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down, and the first little pig ran to his brother's house of sticks.
-
O lobo foi até à casa de paus e disse:
The wolf went to the house of sticks and said:
-
"Porquinhos, porquinhos, deixem-me entrar!"
"Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!"
-
"Não, não, pelos pêlos dos nossos queixinhos!"
"No, no, by the hair on our chinny chin chins!"
-
"Então vou soprar, soprar e a vossa casa vou derrubar!"
"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down, and the two little pigs ran to their brother's house of bricks.
-
The wolf went to the house of bricks and said:
-
"Porquinhos, porquinhos, deixem-me entrar!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed, but he could not blow the house down, for it was made of sturdy bricks.
-
The wolf was very angry, but he was also very clever.
-
"Porquinhos," disse ele,
"Little pigs," he said,
-
"vou descer pela chaminé e comer-vos!"
"I am going to go down the chimney and eat you up!"
-
The wise third little pig heard him and hung a big cauldron of water over the fire to boil.
-
When the wolf came down the chimney, he fell straight into the boiling cauldron.
-
He gave a loud howl and fled, and never disturbed the three little pigs again.
-
And so the three little pigs lived happily ever after in the sturdy brick house.
