Tres Porcelli
The Three Little Pigs
-
Once upon a time, there were three little pigs who set out to seek their fortune.
-
The first little pig built his house out of straw, because it was the easiest.
-
Secundus porcellus domum suam ex virgis aedificavit.
The second little pig built his house out of sticks.
-
The third little pig worked industriously and built his house out of bricks.
-
Quadam die lupus malus et magnus advenit.
One day, a big bad wolf arrived.
-
Ad domum primi porcelli ivit et dixit:
He went to the house of the first little pig and said:
-
"Porcelle, porcelle, sine me intrare!"
"Little pig, little pig, let me come in!"
-
"Minime, minime, per pilos mentis meae!"
"No, no, by the hairs of my chinny-chin-chin!"
-
dixit porcellus.
said the little pig.
-
"Ergo efflabo et sufflabo et domum tuam deiiciam!"
"Then I will huff and I will puff and I will blow your house down!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down, and the first little pig ran to the house of his brother made of sticks.
-
The wolf came to the house made of sticks and said:
-
"Porcelli, porcelli, sinite me intrare!"
"Little pigs, little pigs, let me come in!"
-
"Minime, minime, per pilos mentium nostrarum!"
"No, no, by the hairs of our chinny-chin-chins!"
-
"Ergo efflabo et sufflabo et domum vestram deiiciam!"
"Then I will huff and I will puff and I will blow your house down!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed and he blew the house down, and the two little pigs ran to the house of their brother made of bricks.
-
The wolf came to the house made of bricks and said:
-
"Porcelli, porcelli, sinite me intrare!"
-
So he huffed and he puffed, but he could not blow the house down, because it was made of solid bricks.
-
The wolf was very angry, but he was also clever.
-
"Porcelli," inquit,
"Little pigs," he said,
-
"per fumarium descendam et vos vorabam!"
"I will go down the chimney and I will devour you!"
-
Tertius porcellus prudens eum audivit et ollam magnam aquae super ignem ut ferveret suspendit.
The wise third little pig heard him and hung a large pot of water over the fire to boil.
-
When the wolf came down through the chimney, he fell straight into the boiling pot.
-
He gave a great howl and fled, and he never bothered the three little pigs ever again.
-
Itaque tres porcelli feliciter in perpetuum in domo solida ex lateribus vixerunt.
And so, the three little pigs lived happily ever after in the solid house made of bricks.
