1. Koka-Poka

    Henny-Penny

One day Henny-Penny was pecking corn in the yard when—thump!—something hit her on the head.

„Kamo idete, Koka-Poka i Pijetle-Pjevče? ” upita Patka-Kvatka. „Oh! Idemo reći kralju da nebo pada,” rekoše Koka-Poka i Pijetao-Pjevac. „Mogu li ići s vama? ” upita Patka-Kvatka. „Naravno,” rekoše Koka-Poka i Pijetao-Pjevac. „Kamo idete, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče i Patko-Kvatko? ” upita Guska-Pluska. „Oh! Idemo reći kralju da nebo pada,” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac i Patka-Kvatka. „Mogu li ići s vama? ” upita Guska-Pluska. „Naravno,” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac i Patka-Kvatka. „Kamo idete, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče, Patko-Kvatko i Gusko-Plusko? ” upita Puran-Juran. „Oh! Idemo reći kralju da nebo pada,” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka i Guska-Pluska. „Mogu li ići s vama, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče, Patko-Kvatko i Gusko-Plusko? ” upita Puran-Juran. „Pa naravno, Purane-Jurane,” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka i Guska-Pluska. Tako su Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka, Guska-Pluska i Puran-Juran svi otišli reći kralju da nebo pada. I tako su išli, i išli su, i išli su, sve dok nisu sreli Liju-Liju, a Lija-Lija reče Koki-Poki, Pijetlu-Pjevcu, Patki-Kvatki, Guski-Pluski i Puranu-Juranu: „Kamo idete, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče, Patko-Kvatko, Gusko-Plusko i Purane-Jurane? ” A Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka, Guska-Pluska i Puran-Juran rekoše Liji-Liji: „Idemo reći kralju da nebo pada. ”

"Goodness me!" said Henny-Penny; "the sky is going to fall; I must go and tell the king." And so she went, and went, and went, until she met Cocky-Locky. "Where are you going, Henny-Penny?" asked Cocky-Locky. "Oh! I am going to tell the king that the sky is falling," said Henny-Penny. "May I go with you?" asked Cocky-Locky. "Of course," said Henny-Penny. So Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky went to tell the king that the sky was falling. They went, and went, and went, until they met Ducky-Daddles. "Where are you going, Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky?" asked Ducky-Daddles. "Oh! We are going to tell the king that the sky is falling," said Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky. "May I go with you?" asked Ducky-Daddles. "Of course," said Henny-Penny and Cocky-Locky. So Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, and Ducky-Daddles went to tell the king that the sky was falling. And so they went, and went, and went, until they met Goosey-Poosey. "Where are you going, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, and Ducky-Daddles?" asked Goosey-Poosey. "Oh! We are going to tell the king that the sky is falling," said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, and Ducky-Daddles. "May I go with you?" asked Goosey-Poosey. "Of course," said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, and Ducky-Daddles. So Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey went to tell the king that the sky was falling. And so they went, and went, and went, until they met Turkey-Lurkey. "Where are you going, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey?" asked Turkey-Lurkey. "Oh! We are going to tell the king that the sky is falling," said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey. "May I go with you, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey?" asked Turkey-Lurkey. "Why of course, Turkey-Lurkey," said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, and Goosey-Poosey. So Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey all went to tell the king that the sky was falling. And so they went, and went, and went, until they met Foxy-Loxy, and Foxy-Loxy said to Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey: "Where are you going, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey?" And Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey said to Foxy-Loxy: "We are going to tell the king that the sky is falling."

  4. „Oh! Ali to nije put do kralja, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče, Patko-Kvatko, Gusko-Plusko i Purane-Jurane, ” reče Lija-Lija; „ja znam pravi put; hoću li vam ga pokazati? ”

“Oh! But that's not the way to the king, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey,” said Foxy-Loxy; “I know the proper way; shall I show it to you?”

  5. „Pa naravno, Lijo-Lijo, ” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka, Guska-Pluska i Puran-Juran. Tako su Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka, Guska-Pluska, Puran-Juran i Lija-Lija svi otišli reći kralju da nebo pada. I tako su išli, i išli su, i išli su, sve dok nisu došli do uske i tamne rupe. A to su bila vrata pećine Lije-Lije. Ali Lija-Lija reče Koki-Poki, Pijetlu-Pjevcu, Patki-Kvatki, Guski-Pluski i Puranu-Juranu: „Ovo je kraći put do kraljeve palače; ubrzo ćete stići onamo ako idete za mnom. Ja ću ići prvi, a vi pođite za mnom, Koka-Poka, Pijetle-Pjevče, Patko-Kvatko, Gusko-Plusko i Purane-Jurane. ”

“Why, certainly, Foxy-Loxy,” said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey. So Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, Turkey-Lurkey, and Foxy-Loxy all went to tell the king the sky was falling. And so they went, and they went, and they went, till they came to a narrow dark hole. And that was the door of Foxy-Loxy's cave. But Foxy-Loxy said to Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey: “This is the short way to the king's palace; you'll soon get there if you follow me. I'll go first, and you follow after me, Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey.”

  6. „Pa naravno, dakako, bez sumnje, zašto ne? ” rekoše Koka-Poka, Pijetao-Pjevac, Patka-Kvatka, Guska-Pluska i Puran-Juran. ”

“Why, of course, to be sure, by all means, why not?” said Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey. So Foxy-Loxy went into his cave, and he didn't go very far but turned round to wait for Henny-Penny, Cocky-Locky, Ducky-Daddles, Goosey-Poosey, and Turkey-Lurkey. So at last Turkey-Lurkey went first through the dark hole into the cave. He hadn't gone very far when— “Hrumph!”

  7. —Lija-Lija odgrizao glavu Puranu-Juranu i prebacio njegovo tijelo preko svog lijevog ramena.

—Foxy-Loxy bit off Turkey-Lurkey's head and threw his body over his left shoulder. Then Goosey-Poosey went in, and— “Hrumph!”—off went her head too, and Goosey-Poosey was thrown beside Turkey-Lurkey. Then Ducky-Daddles waddled in, and— “Hrumph!”—snapped Foxy-Loxy, and Ducky-Daddles's head was bitten off and Ducky-Daddles was thrown beside Turkey-Lurkey and Goosey-Poosey. Then Cocky-Locky strutted into the cave, and he hadn't gone very far when— “Snap, Hrumph!”—went Foxy-Loxy, and Cocky-Locky was thrown beside Turkey-Lurkey, Goosey-Poosey, and Ducky-Daddles. But Foxy-Loxy had to bite Cocky-Locky twice, and as the first bite only hurt him but didn't kill him, he called out to Henny-Penny. So she turned tail and ran all the way home, and so she never told the king the sky was falling.
