1. Los Tres Cerditos

    The Three Little Pigs

A long time ago, three little pig brothers decided that they were old enough to leave home and each build their own house.

  3. El primer cerdito era muy perezoso.

The first little pig was very lazy.

—¡Lista! —dijo satisfecho—.

He gathered a pile of straw from the field and in a couple of hours he built his little house. "Done!" he said with satisfaction.

  5. Ahora tengo tiempo de sobra para jugar.

Now I have plenty of time to play.

The second little pig was a bit more hardworking, but he didn't want to exert himself too much either.

He gathered branches and sticks from the forest and tied them together to form a little wooden house. "Better than the straw one," he said, "and it took very little effort."

The third little pig, on the other hand, was very serious and responsible.

He bought bricks and mortar, and spent several days working under the sun until he built a solid little house of stone and brick, complete with a chimney.

Not many days had passed when a big, bad wolf appeared.

He was very hungry and the little pigs seemed like a wonderful snack to him.

He stood in front of the little straw house and shouted: "Little pig, little pig, let me in!"

  13. —¡No, no, ni por los pelos de mi barba! —respondió el cerdito desde dentro.

"No, no, not by the hair of my chinny chin chin!" the little pig replied from inside.

  14. —Pues soplaré y soplaré y tu casita derribaré —prometió el lobo.

"Then I'll huff, and I'll puff, and I'll blow your house down," the wolf promised.

He blew with all his might and the little straw house flew through the air.

The first little pig ran off to take refuge at his brother's house.

The wolf followed them to the little house of sticks and blew again.

The branches creaked, the sticks fell, and the two little pigs bolted to find their third brother.

The three of them locked themselves inside the little brick house.

The wolf huffed and puffed until he was out of breath, but the walls did not move a single millimeter.

Furious, the wolf decided to go in through the chimney.

He climbed onto the roof and slid down... but the third little pig had placed a pot full of boiling water on the fire right underneath.

The wolf fell inside with a big splash, let out a howl of pain, and fled the forest without looking back.

The three little pigs danced and sang with joy.

And from that day on, they lived together in the solid little brick house, safe and happily ever after.
