Reading without the English: what helps you?
-
A few things in the reader that are easy to miss:
– "Hide the English" blurs the translation. Click a line to check just that one.
– "Hide pinyin" (furigana on a Japanese page, Jyutping on a Cantonese one) takes the readings away. A word you tap still shows its own.
– Tapping the same Chinese or Japanese word again narrows it: 一个, then 一.
– "Listen" reads the chapter aloud and marks the line it is on.What else works for you? Reading a story you already know in English first, reading aloud, keeping a notebook of words, something else?
